Description

For consignment a 1969 version of the Buick Electra.  As our consignor states, everyone has a story about a Dr. who has “One Just Like it” and this is true because Buicks were popular with doctors ever since the beginning of time.  This being that they did not want to be considered “overpriced” when a patient pulls up and sees a Caddy in the driveway!  In our Hallowed Halls, this 1969 Electra has a newer crate engine, an aircraft quality paint job, and all new hydraulics for the top.  Lovely

Exterior
Leading the way in a big way, is the large full grille bumper which wraps the corners of the quarters and houses the dual square bezeled  circular headlights on either side of an egg crate grille.  Taking its cue from the front bumper, some side trimmings start with a running light in front then rising upward to form a trim spear that runs the entire length of the car.  It ascends above the wheel well, then slowly descends through the rear fender skirts, culminating at the rear bumper.  The Buick front quarter vents are evident and are gracing either side in a series of 4 horizontal thin rectangular shapes.  Some stainless trimmings are also seen on the rockers on both sides.  Straight body panels bathed in Polar White and show nicely on the paint front.   A small alignment miscue on the trim spear is seen at the backs of the doors as they have pulled downward slightly at the latch end.  Also seen are some beginnings of invasive rust where paint has chipped off and also where trimmings meet the steel. This is mainly evident on the bottoms of this car, in and around doors and wheel wells.  On top is a black canvas convertible top in good condition with new hydraulics so it works smoothly.  This leads us to the massive trunk deck which culminates in a fully stretched across gridded taillight with another large bumper below.  Badging is all on and correct and tri-shield hub emblazoned wire chrome wheel coverings trapped in thin classy whitewall tires on all 4 corners.  This baby looks so cool when that top is down and we view it from the side.  Doctor!!

Interior
For the interior door panels we see some black vinyl uppers with some flourish embossing around the pull bar.  An aluminum panel hovers above the molded vinyl armrest which also houses the power window, power locks and power seat adjustments.  Moving inside to the seats, which are covered in a black vinyl are overstuffed tuck and roll inserts and smooth black vinyl bolsters.  A central armrest resides in the middle of the front seating, and in back a full matching bench is seen in great condition and sporting a central upper panel for a rear stereo speaker.  The original dash is upfront and utilizes the square and rectangle design for the instruments and it takes on thin chrome delineations of the panels that house all the controls.  Wonderful black carpeting floods the floors.  Very nicely buttoned up for this interior looking first class(y) Flossy Flossy!

Drivetrain
Within the unrestored original engine bay sits a less than 5K miles clocked on it 430ci V8 topped by a 4-barrel carburetor.  On the back is the TH400 3-speed automatic and the rear axle for this car is a 10 bolt, 2.78 ratio.  The engine is a pristine red block painted, shiny hose supple wiring single snout air cleaner covered 430-4 badged shiny beacon in the middle of this engine bay.

Undercarriage
Up on the lift we experience A fresh coating of black undercoating which is covering ups some surface rust, ( I know as I can see inside the holes of the framing, and some spray is only on the bottoms of the front suspension components).  The rust is not invasive but does reside on the exterior of the rockers.  A new stainless steel exhaust is on as well as Independent front suspension and rear 4 link with coil springs.  Power disc braking is up front and power drums for the rear.  Some of that surface rust previously described is also showing on the braking with the overspray covering.  A new brake booster, new EG urethane body mounts, and electronic ignition are a few of the highlights seen from underneath.

Drive-Ability
All working, and all ready to go,  save for you may want to do some cosmetic work to the lower parts of the exterior, but this car runs like a champ.  Nice power from the 4-barrel carb through the 430 cubes, smooth automatic shifting, and bias free panic stopping.  This large car wheels around effortlessly with the power steering, and offers up plenty of legroom for all inside, front or rear.  The power top is easily activated and for all test drives I press these things into service no matter how chilly it is.  It just makes me look cool, and I can write about it, but looking cool is definitely a priority!!

Lovingly cared for by our consignor who obtained the car from noted collector Bill Camillio.  Has owned this car for 20 years and put a healthy 430ci V8 crate engine inside less than 5K miles ago.  Big and cool I'd say Doctor! Doctor! Gimme the news, I got a bad case of lovin' this car!
