Fiberglass & Steel Build/350ci V8/Dual Edelbrock 4bbls/Fast Juicy Orange Driver
For consignment, a hot rod 1929 Model A that checks all the boxes. 350ci V8 TH350 trans, dropped suspension, steel and fiberglass, and a retina searing orange paint job and we have ourselves a first-class rod circa 1929 Old Henry!
***Note: This vehicle is sold with a Pennsylvania reconstructed branding on the title***
Exterior
With a steel body and fiberglass front fenders, the rear fenders remain steel, a louvered steel hood and the stainless steel mesh covered radiator, all the parts come together to make a very proportional and good looking 1929 interpretation. Not too much chrome, just the grille shell, headlights, double barred front bumper, windshield surround, and side view mirrors, but just enough to accentuate the star of the exterior…drumroll please!!! THE PAINT! Ta dah…Deep orange has engulfed the front of the car and drenches the entire body. A few chips and scuffs are noted in the finish but overall, a well done job. All this fiberglass is framing tinted glass, rust free doors and a wonderful rear end to this curvaceous car. Sweet to say the least. To finish it off, how about some 14 and 15-inch polished American Racing Torque Thrust wheels wrapped in blackwall P195/70R-14's in front, and a bit bigger with P255/70R-15's in the rear. Peel that orange and enjoy a slice!
Interior
Not unlike a tasteful sports coat you'd wear to cocktail night at the club, smooth tweed in black covers the inside of the doors add in some shiny pulls and a map pocket and voila! This tweed just goes for miles inside covering all the side panels and above is a broadcloth headliner also in black. In the rear is a broad vertical tuck and roll black tweed bench seat accented by an orange seat support. In front we note two overstuffed low back buckets wrapped in more tweed with smooth black vinyl bolsters. Black carpeting is covering the floors. To break up the black a bit we see an exterior matching orange painted dash with a black topper. Within the dash front is a flurry of vintage lettered white faced Classic Instruments gauges with chrome bezels. A few toggles have been added to the center of the dash along with black heater vents. Lest I forget an black tilt column which has a rally steering wheel and from the floor a long flamed marble ball topped shifter lever reaches for the driver. In the headliner is the electric wiper motor and lastly a special dash plaque commemorating the former owners. Oh so sweet!
Drivetrain
In the engine bay is a mighty 350ci Chevy engine that has dual Edelbrock 4bbl carbs under pleated air filters. The hood sides have been removed to show this wonderful orange mill off to the world. Bolted to the back is a TH350 3-speed automatic and getting you down the road is a Ford 9" rear axle. I especially dig the leather strap and spring hood retention system. Juicy!
Undercarriage
Beautifully crafted and built, we see black framing and suspension which consists of 4 bar & transverse leaf springs for the front, and 4 bar with coil overs on back. Headers feed spent fossils to the chambered mufflers then ending in highly polished stainless tips in front of the rear wheels. Disc braking is seen on the front and drums are on for the rear.
Drive-Ability
Slipping on my smoking jacket I climbed inside and fired this car up. It came to life, and I sped to the test track where it performed flawlessly. Nice acceleration, good handling and bias free panic stopping. All functions were working well and I arrived on time for the gala dinner at my favorite all you can eat buffet.
A nice build, powerful mill with all the right stuff, wonderful interior and snappy exterior paint. All the boxes are now checked except for the one where you come down here to Classic Auto Mall and drive it away!
