Description

1955 Nash Ambassador Super

Why This Car Is Special

The Nash Ambassador is a luxury automobile that was produced by Nash Motors from 1927 until 1957. Ambassadors were lavishly equipped and beautifully constructed, earning them the nickname “the Kenosha Duesenberg."

Nash merged with Hudson in 1954 and from 1958 until 1965 these cars were named Rambler Ambassador and then from the 1966 through 1974 model years as the AMC Ambassador. The continued use the Ambassador model name made it "one of the longest-lived automobile nameplates in automotive history."

Mechanical

In 1955, Packard supplied its 320 cubic inch OHV V-8 to American Motors for use in Nash and Hudson cars and that is what is in ours and looks original as does all the other parts and that engine compartment.

It has the black factory air cleaner on a Carter two-barrel carburetor and ha a compression ratio of 7.8:1 which allowed the engine to be rated by the manufacturer at 208 horsepower when new.

It has the red painted engine block, heads, intake and the valve covers which wear Nash Ambassador logos, air conditioning, and the engine in this Super is said to be original to the car and to have been rebuilt under previous ownership.

Packard's Ultramatic two-speed automatic transmission shifts normally and moves the power to the yellow painted steel wheels with chrome Nash hubcaps and wide whitewall tires.

Interior

Also according to the seller, the interior of this Nash is original. The seats are enclosed in the plastic seat covers reminiscent of the days and show no wear and they have matching rear seat, door panels, opulent green painted dash with a compliment of the factory gauges, black two-ring steering wheel, showing a tad over 59k miles, nice stainless trim on the dash, column mounted automatic shifter, clock and radio.

Even the trunk looks as new with the trunk mat and the underside of the trunk lid too.

Exterior

Our 1955 has a tri-color exterior paint job in yellow, with black sides, and a white top in very good condition and it looks stunning and as it should for opulent cars in those days.

The chrome appears to be complete and good condition and our Super is equipped with a Continental kit painted in yellow and black too with even the 5th hubcap.

It has nice trim on the vent wings, great front and rear chrome bumpers, twin chrome mirrors, V8 logos on the rear fenders and Ambassador Super chrome emblems on the front fenders so it lets people know how special this Nash is when they see it.

Conclusion

This rare 1955 Nash Ambassador Super we have for sale here at Skyway Classics is so very rare and appears to have the original paint, interior, engine, and automatic transmission and it will surely stand out in a crowd of Chevys and Fords at any car shows or cruises.

You will love this car in your collection.
