In the world of sportscars, Austin Healey as well as the racing world, the Austin Healey 100S, needs no introduction. The 100S factory sports-racing car is one of the most sought after of all Austin-Healey models. When a prototype driven by Lance Macklin and George Huntoon finished a superb 3rd overall at the 1954 Sebring 12-Hour Race, it seemed only logical that a Healey competition version should be called the '100S'. In 1955, only 50 production versions were manufactured all right-hand drive. Approximately half of production went to the USA, the first deliveries arriving in time for the 1955 Sebring 12 Hour race.

This Healey is a exceptional tribute to the factory 100S. This Austin-Healey began life as a North American specification 100 BN1 roadster. Early history is unknown, but it was subsequently acquired by the owner as a non-running project in 2010.

The body off restoration started with a complete refurbishment of the chassis. Being true to Healey 100S specs, a hand formed aluminum body was fabricated by Cape International in the UK, this included factory-style welds and bracing as well as an aluminum bonnet, doors, boot lid, and fenders. No stone was left unturned, the body was painted by AJ's Artworks of West Columbia, South Carolina. Details include a fold-down windshield, a smaller grille opening with 100S badge, a Monza-style fuel filler, a side-edit exhaust, Lucas front fog lamps and a louvered hood with a leather tie-down strap.

The BN1 2,660cc inline-four has been converted by Savannah Race Engineering to 100S specifications with an aluminum cylinder head, twin 45 DCOE 152 Weber carburetors and electronic ignition. Dynamometer test shows peak output of 174 horsepower and 208 ft-lb of torque. Further enhancements include polished velocity stacks, an aluminum radiator, a side-exit exhaust system as well as an aluminum fuel tank.

Braking is handled by four-wheel disc brakes and the 100S Tribute runs on White-painted 15″ wire wheels with period Dunlop race tires.

Recently, we enjoyed using this 100S Tribute on the 2022 Going to the Sun Rally and where it performed wonderfully and without fault. With no disappointments whatsoever, the handling, braking and reliable power along with its light weight made this an incredible and fast vintage tour-rally car.

This Austin Healey 100S Tribute is available and ready for immediate use and enjoyment.
