Description

1966 Plymouth Belvedere II

Car History

This 1966 Plymouth Belvedere II we have here at Adventure Classics was designed to be lean and fast when it was new and a lot of hot rodders back then raced in drag race competition and on the street with these big block engines in these cars that was a take-no-prisoners piece with an attitude that made these cars so successful in the glory years of the muscle car era.

Today they're red-hot collector's items. Ours has the 383 cubic inch engine (Code G in the VIN number), dealer installed air conditioning, special order paint code 999 shown on original fender tag represents a special paint (Petty Blue) that was Only offered on Plymouth, only in the Southeast region of the US, and it has been in the same family since new, only changed registration once in 1973, to a family member.

This car has 35,000 miles and runs like it is still new. This would be a good car to add to a collection and we have the original CERTICARD plate, original finance contract , dealer invoice, build sheet, broadcast sheet, window sticker, and title since 1973.

Engine & Drivetrain

When you lift the hood, you can't help but notice how period correct 383 cubic inch engine and compartment looks! It has mostly original and correct parts such as the black factory air cleaner, intake, valve covers, and dealer installed air conditioning.

The big block V8 feeds a stout four-speed manual transmission and rides on great-looking blue factory steel wheels, factory hubcaps, and white sidewall tires.
Interior

The all-black bench seat and matching rear seat interior is all original and showing some minor threads pulling and has seatbelts, the factory dash with all stock gauges, instruments, and controls, dealer installed air conditioning, four-speed manual transmission shifter, black carpeting, factory Trans Audio radio, black factory steering wheel, matching door panels and headliner, that all makes for an ideal way to experience an original classic Plymouth.

Exterior

Our Plymouth has the look exactly how you want of a vintage race car inspired Mopar.

It has its Special Order paint code #999, as shown on original fender tag, that represents a special paint (Petty Blue) that was only offered on Plymouth, only in the Southeast region of the US.

This color evolved into a production color for 1972 and 1973.

This is one of possibly 3 Belvedere II's with 383 engine, a 4-speed transmission, and painted this color. Chrysler Historical indicated they knew of two so equipped this color and this is the 3rd one!

Others have reported they have seen the same combination, but further research indicated Belvedere I and Satellite with 318 cu in engines may have been the examples reported, or they may have been color changes after production.

This car wears its Original Paint, as its been kept indoors in Florida all its life and shows no rust or repairs of any kind.

Conclusion

This 1966 Plymouth Belvedere II we have here at Adventure Classics is an icon of the muscle car era and an intimidating machine. It looks the part of a serious racer and street contender, and it is with that great 383 engine.

This car has 35,000 miles and runs like it is still new. This would be a good car to add to a collection as it is rare with that special paint as well as having the 383 engine, four-speed tranny, and all the documentation too.

This 1966 hardtop is a combination of cool and mean packaging that's rarely up for grabs. So don't miss your chance, call today!
