1934 Cadillac

Model 370-D Fleetwood V-12 7-Passenger Sedan

Description

This 1934 Cadillac Model 370-D Fleetwood V-12 7-Passenger Sedan is an absolutely gorgeous, pre-war CCCA Full Classic. In 1934, America's luxury automobile manufacturers were faced with the dire financial circumstances brought on by the effects of the Great Depression. In fact, many of Cadillac's contemporaries at the time such as Peerless and Marmon had went out of business, while others such as Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg, Stutz, and Pierce-Arrow were essentially on running on fumes only to meet their final demise in the next few years. Despite facing immense financial pressure, the top of the class marque Cadillac continued to produce and sell luxury motor vehicles, albeit in smaller numbers, to the few remaining customers who could afford to own a prestigious Cadillac. In order to survive, Cadillac ventured to create cars that bridged the gap between its entry level Series 355 V-8 cars and its top-of-the-line Series 452 V-16 cars with the introduction of the V-12 Series 370, and to entice more entry-level customers into the Cadillac ecosystem Cadillac also placed a greater emphasis on its "Cadillac-lite" companion brand LaSalle. In 1934, Cadillac released a completely redesigned style across all four of its product lines and these new design elements would seemingly spread across the industry. At the nose, the '34 Cadillac had a new-look grille that was also raked back to create a more aerodynamic look, something that Packard would seemingly mirror in its 1935 and subsequent models. Sitting on either side of the new-look grille was new teardrop-style headlights that would be seen on many of Cadillac's contemporaries in the future as well. The bumpers were also restyled to a new art deco "bi-plane" design that featured a pair of thin blades separated by a pair of bullet shaped spacers. At the rear of the 1934 Cadillac, the GM marque removed the rear-mounted spare and placed the spare tire inside the trunk as well as offering optional covered side-mounted spare tires. The 1934 Cadillac interior was also extremely plush and luxurious as one could expect on a top-of-its-class Cadillac in the early to mid 30s. From 1934 through 1935, Cadillac produced a mere 1,098 Series 370-D V-12 automobiles across all of its 30 different body styles, which makes this particular vehicle quite a rare piece of automotive history. Powering this 1934 Cadillac is a 368 cubic inch V-12 engine fed by a pair of single barrel carburetors that together were said to have created 133 horsepower when new. The 368 V12 is mated to a 3 speed manual transmission that is shifted using the floor mounted shifter. This nearly 6,000 pound behemoth is brought to a complete stop with the help of vacuum-assisted mechanical brakes in all four corners, which is quite a novelty for 1934. Riding on a set of wide whitewall bias-ply tires mounted on painted wire wheels with Cadillac hubcaps, this 1934 Cadillac V-12 Fleetwood has a stunning look while parked or while cruising down the road. Dual covered side-mounted spare tires further add to the upscale luxurious look of this wonderful pre-war Cadillac. The steel body of this 1934 V12 Cadillac has been refinished in beautiful black paint that completes the wonderful exterior look of the car. The interior of this 1934 Cadillac V12 Fleetwood Sedan is absolutely stunning! The front and rear bench seats, along with the folding rear jump seats, have been reupholstered in a beautiful light gray broadcloth. The matching upholstered door panels, gray carpeting, painted dash, and steering wheel are in great shape as well and all appear to retain a nice stock appearance. Passengers seated in the rear compartment on the bench seat will also be delighted to find personal cigar lighters and ash trays, along with a vent window. The instrument cluster is equipped with a 120 MPH speedometer, amp gauge, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge, along with a clock and indicators for the headlights. The dash is finished off with a cigar lighter, locking glovebox, and AM radio. Whether you're buying your very first classic car or you're a member of the Classic Car Club of America adding to existing collection of Full Classics, this 1934 Cadillac Model 370-D Fleetwood V-12 7-Passenger Sedan would make an excellent choice.
