"All Business"
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this mildly modified Chevrolet One-Fifty Business Coupe for your consideration. This vintage gem features a stock 235 engine with a dual carb setup, power steering, and power brakes. The column shift has been relocated to the floor, enhancing drivability and adding a touch of modern convenience. Originally built between 1953 and 1957, the Chevrolet One-Fifty was conceived as a fleet model intended for police, taxi, and other governmental agencies, with minimal marketing efforts directed at the average consumer. This no-frills transportation option came with limited options, stark trim, and solid colors. This particular unit has seen very limited use and has been stored indoors, preserving its charm and functionality. It starts right up, runs smoothly, shifts seamlessly, and brakes as it should. The tires are in decent condition, the interior is nice, and while the paint is older, it still shows quite well.
Under the hood, the engine was rebuilt in 2023 with several notable upgrades, including a slight bore, a mild cam, headers, dual carburetors, and new pistons and rings. The clutch is new, paired with a three-on-the-floor gear shift, and the car features a dual exhaust system. It has been lowered 4 inches in the front, achieving the perfect stance and rake. A tachometer has been added for performance monitoring, and the electrical system has been converted to a modern 12V setup. For entertainment, there is an AM/FM radio with a CD player, and the car now has electric windshield wipers. The updated American Racing Wheels with newer tires enhance the overall look, and new shocks (front and rear) along with new front springs improve the ride quality.
Chevrolet's One-Fifty model has an interesting history, having been introduced as an economical, no-nonsense vehicle designed for utility and efficiency. Over the years, it became a favorite among law enforcement and other government agencies due to its reliability and straightforward design. While it lacked the bells and whistles of higher-end models, its simplicity and durability made it a dependable choice. This particular example, with its tasteful modifications and careful maintenance, brings a touch of modernity to a classic design, making it a unique and enjoyable ride.
