The Nash Rambler established a new segment of the automotive market and is widely acknowledged as the first successful American compact. The 1950-1955 model was considered to be the first generation to use a new Nash Rambler platform which was later reintroduced by AMC as the 'new' Rambler American in 1958. Our 1955 Nash Rambler 'Cross Country' has been the beneficiary of a partial restoration (2019) and is a very rare classic wagon. (The owner states that the Rambler had only 71,400 miles on the odometer prior to the restoration.) The exterior was carefully refinished in Burgundy over Silver. A unique roofline accents the wagon's iconic silhouette, as does the stunning hood ornament and chrome roof rack. Steel wheels with dog-dish hubcaps and trim rings mount wide-whites. The custom vinyl upholstery is period-correct and is in very good condition. A new headliner was installed and windows are tinted. The solid Nash is powered by a 195ci flathead straight-six that is said to have never required a rebuild. Behind the flathead, a GM supplied HydraMatic transmission transfers power to a stock rear differential. Brakes are 4-wheel manual drum.
