1998 Buick Riviera
Run Day - Saturday May 31, 2025
One of One, 1998 Buick Riviera. In 1996 a group of GM engineers felt the Riviera should be powered by no fewer than 8 cylinders and knew it was possible. The last generation Riviera shared its platform with the Eldorado and Aurora, both of which were powered by the Northstar V8. The Northstar all aluminum dual overhead cam produced 295HP as compared to the Buick V6 at 225HP. So the engineers built a concept "one of one" Riviera with the Cadillac V8 system. The car featured custom "flipflop" teal paint and Budnik wheels. Inside carbon fiber panels dressed the dash and door panels. The polished Northstar engine and modified suspension brought the estimated cost of construction to more than $150,000. This automobile made its debut at the 1998 SEMA show. The car remained in the GM Heritage Collection for years. In 2009 General Motors sold the one of a kind V8 Rivera to a private collection. After many years in a private collection, this one of a kind Riviera is being offered for sale. Featured in numerous national automotive magazines, and shown at multiple Buick events over the years. Don't miss out on the chance to own a unique piece of Buick automotive history.
