"Legendary Status"
The history of the Packard company is very impressive and was one of the top luxury car brands in the 40's. They competed against Rolls Royce, Duesenberg and Mercedes. These iconic cars were built in Detroit Michigan and were hand built and crafted by some of the most discerning builders in the world.
We are privileged to bring this 1949 Packard Club Sedan Deluxe to market for the first time since 1993. Current owners purchased this car as a tribute to their father and would spend the next four years going through a full frame off restoration to the body, chassis, engine and interior. The restoration is nicely documented with receipts, pictures and additional information. This has been like a family member for the past 32 years and they look forward to this car finding a great new home.
In 1997 the family had Automotive Information Clearinghouse out of California to research how many fo these 1949 Packards still existed. Their research found there were 41 registered in the USA and only 3 in the state of Michigan. Fast forward 28 years and we would suspect that number is at least 30% fewer making this a very rare vehicle and nearly impossible to duplicate to this condition and history for the price offered here. Our research only found 5 sold Packards of this model in the past 6 years and currently zero on the market.
Everything about this car from the "Pelican" iconic hood ornament to the E-coated wood dash and the highly detailed engine bay...this is a real head turner and deserves the most critical eye. Vehicle was invited to the 2001 Meadowbrook Concours d'Elegance and has been awarded in numerous shows and events over the past 30+ years.
Don't hesitate on the automotive piece of history as some smart collector will for sure scoop it up and put it back into a collection and may never be up for sale again. Large file of documentation, pictures, manuals, news article and receipts accompany the sale of this Packard.
