"Sir Spitfire"
• This vehicle is located at our Indianapolis facility - 2461 Reeves Rd #194, Plainfield, IN 46168 •
This 1980 Triumph Spitfire is a charming and well-maintained example of classic British motoring, offering a fun and engaging driving experience. Finished in a rich Maroon exterior over a clean Beige interior, it pairs classic color tones with a sporty, roadster style. Power comes from a 1500cc 4-cylinder engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission and stock rear end, providing light, nimble handling and an authentic analog feel. Recent upgrades include a new intake manifold and Weber carburetor for improved performance, a new electronic distributor for reliable ignition, new carpet for a refreshed cabin feel, and stylish aluminum wheels that complement the car's vintage lines. Owned previously by an older couple who cared for it meticulously, the car has received consistent maintenance and is in solid condition, ready for weekend cruises or casual car shows.
The Triumph Spitfire was introduced in 1962 as a small, affordable sports car designed to compete with the likes of the MG Midget and Austin-Healey Sprite. Designed by the famed Italian stylist Giovanni Michelotti, the Spitfire stood out for its sleek, low-slung body and fully independent suspension — features uncommon in its price range at the time. Over five generations, the Spitfire gradually evolved in performance and comfort, with the final model, the 1500, produced from 1974 to 1980. The 1980 model year marked the end of the line for the Spitfire, making it the last chapter of one of Britain's most beloved roadsters. Today, the Spitfire remains a popular and accessible classic, celebrated for its lightweight driving dynamics, mechanical simplicity, and unmistakable charm.
Price does not include applicable tax, title, license, processing, and/or $240 documentation fees.
