"The Minges Coupe"
GR Auto Gallery is excited to present this beautifully executed 1930 Ford Model A Hot Rod finished in a stunning green metallic paint with a chrome top, whitewall tires, and classic wide stance. This build captures the true spirit of a period correct hot rod with tasteful modifications throughout, including a 4.5 inch chop, louvered hood and decklid, top insert, visor, and carefully executed fab work by Cornfield Customs. Sitting on 1939 Mercury wide five wheels and Coker Firestone bias ply tires, this Model A has the exact look and attitude that defined traditional hot rodding.
Power comes from a legendary 239ci 1939 Mercury Flathead V8 that has been bored .080 over and built by Billy Bob Helton. The engine features Offenhauser heads, a 1950 Navarro intake with dual Holley 94 carburetors, Mallory ignition, and lake style headers feeding side exhaust. Power is sent through a T5 5-speed manual transmission with hydraulic clutch to a 1939 Mercury rear end with 3.78 gears. The suspension setup includes a 1932 Dago axle with friction shocks up front and a Model T chrome buggy spring with 1939 Mercury friction shocks in the rear, while 1939 Mercury hydraulic brakes provide confident stopping power.
The interior is equally impressive and thoughtfully executed, featuring brown leather bucket seats sourced from a 1958 Austin Healey, brown leather door cards, and a 1932 Ford dash fitted with Stewart Warner gauges and a Moon Equipped RPM gauge. The steering column is a 1939 Mercury unit with a Corvair reverse box, and the wooden roof slats add an authentic vintage touch. Interior upholstery work was handled by Mikey's Kustom Upholstery, creating a cockpit that feels both period correct and inviting.
This Model A is a fully documented build with contributions from respected names throughout the hot rod community, including paint by Mike Dutch and chrome by Custom Metal Finishing of Indiana. It has also been featured in a full magazine layout in Ol Skool Rodz, further solidifying its quality and pedigree. This is a true traditional hot rod that blends craftsmanship, history, and drivability into one exceptional package.
