This 1964 Ford Galaxie 500XL was built as an R-code 427ci V8 fastback with a four-speed manual transmission. The car was cosmetically refurbished by one of the previous owners around 20 years ago, and following the prior owner's acquisition, the drivetrain was overhauled. Starting on the exterior, the car is finished in factory Vintage Burgundy, repainted in the mid-2000s, and features Hi-Po-style 15″ Kelsey-Hayes wheels powder-coated black to finish out the classic street racer look. Going to the interior, it is finished in factory white and features reproduction door panels from SMS Auto Fabrics installed in 2022. The three-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and is flanked by a horizontal 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 35k miles, with approximately 3k added before our acquisition. Other options include a center console and a push-button radio. Powering this gem is a 427ci V8 rebuilt by Cooley Performance. Upgrades on this engine include Diamond 11:1 forged pistons, Le Mans connecting rods, stainless-steel valves, and an aluminum low-rise intake manifold with two rebuilt Holley carburetors. A factory-specification, unused crankshaft and camshaft were used, and the long-branch manifolds were powder-coated. PerTronix ignition was used along with a dual-point distributor. This engine is mated to a four-speed Toploader transmission that was sourced from Dan Williams Toploaders. Under the car is a dual-exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers, giving the engine a deep rumble. The vehicle also includes manual steering, 11″ drum brakes, a six-leaf rear spring setup, and Hi-Po steering stops. Come in and check out one of the most perfect Galaxies on the market.
