1930 Lincoln L Coupe by Judkins. Fully Restored Pebble Winner Well Known Car

This stunning and important Lincoln has had been in the collection of many respected Lincoln Collectors-including Jack Passey, Anthony Heinsbergen, and David Schultz. This very rare car is a Lincoln Model L with Type 170 coupe coachwork by Judkins, One of 40 Type 170 coupes built by Judkins in 1930. It featuring an unusual combination of optional dual rear spare tires and the Brewster-type windshield to reduce glare. Only one or two other known 1930 Lincoln Type 170 Judkins coupes are known to remain. The car was found under a farmer's plum tree during the early 1950s in Santa Rosa, Calif. by Jack Passey who, as stated by the late David Schultz, famously saved old Lincolns like a spinster saves cats. Mentioned in Passey's book, “For the Love of Old Cars.” Sold by Passey to noted California Lincoln enthusiast Anthony Heinsbergen who had it restored once or twice and still wears much of his last restoration (Schultz believed it was restored or at least painted by J.B. Nethercutt's staff as he and Heinsbergen were good friends). David Schultz — past CCCA president, past Lincoln Owners Club president and chairman emeritus of the Lincoln Motor Car Foundation — purchased the car in the early 2000s and had it serviced following a brief slumber. Upon its invitation to the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, he had the interior reupholstered in the correct materials and rechromed some components. It placed Best in Class at the 2013 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance (he joked it was only because an even nicer Lincoln was not judged per the owner's request). Car was regularly driven by Schultz until his sale in 2024; he subsequently passed in July 2025.

Schultz selected the consignor as its next owner with the understanding he would continue to drive and enjoy it as Schultz had. However, family obligations have prevented him from driving it other than test miles following a fuel system repair. The only work that the consignor has performed in that time is the removal of the electric fuel pump as it ceased to work and repair to the fuel vacuum tank from which the car can now properly run. Weeps coolant, likely from water pump, when it's been sitting for long periods. Car will need tires and the passenger door will not unlock. Car has been enjoyed by its noteworthy owners and remains an extremely impressive car, but is not offered as being concours-worthy. Includes fitted canvas cover for roof protection. This car retains all its original body tags.
