AFFORDABLE RARITY, PACKARD DRIVETRAIN, GREAT SURVIVOR DRIVER!
HIGHLIGHTS: Nice little driver that has never seen a full restoration! While this car isn't 100% factory original, it presents well and is a great choice for a family friendly, in-town cruiser.
BODY OVERVIEW: The body on this Packard is in incredible condition, and shows well. The body is very straight, and really shows the level of care this car has received over the years. Even the underside is in nice condition, save for some small areas shown in the photos. As far as we can tell, this car is still in most of its original sheet metal despite some underside corrosion as shown in the photos. Truly impressive! There are some paint bubbles here and there as shown in the photos.
PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: Vehicles of the 1950s weren't exactly known for long-lasting paint, so it is no surprise that this Packard has received a repaint along the way. It looks to have been painted many years ago, but the paint shines nicely and is in overall good condition despite some normal wear and tear from age and use. Black suits it well, and this car shows well despite any paint flaws!
INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: The tan cloth interior is a classic 1950s match to the exterior black, and appears to be largely original. The original radio remains in place and functional for AM bands, but a modern aftermarket unit was installed under the dash for modern convenience! Despite its age and lack of full restoration, the interior still presents well and is in excellent driver condition.
MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: Under the hood, this car remains mostly the way it was intended to be from factory, and looks to have simply received proper maintenance over the years. The current owner states that the engine top end was rebuilt around 20 years ago. The engine bay is clean, and everything has that nice original look to it. The industrial behemoth of a straight eight 288ci purrs like a kitten, and it is almost unbelievable how smoothly this car runs considering the era it was produced in. It makes sense that Packards were once heralded as premium vehicles!
WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: The affordable price and the driver condition.
WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: If anything, the fact that it's a 4-door may be a turn-off for some.
DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? The brake lights and emergency brake are not currently operational. The transmission slips from a stop on occasion, but it does not currently seem to affect driveability.
WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR? Whether you're looking for a unique weekend cruiser, or just something fun to mess around with in your free time, this affordable 1952 Packard 200 Deluxe sedan is a great option!
