Stunning Interior Engine rebuilt 2012
STK 3217 1966 Sunbeam Alpine
The Sunbeam Alpine was introduced in 1953 and five versions of the car were offered over the years. (In 1962, James Bond drove a Sunbeam Alpine in the movie 'Dr. No'.) This stunning 1966 Sunbeam Alpine roadster is a fully restored example of this classic British sports car. The '66 model was the last version of the Alpine - a Series V. The Series V was fitted with all of the enhancements of previous models plus serious mechanical upgrades. Power was provided by a 1725cc, 5 main bearing, inline 4-cylinder with a pair of Stromberg carbs that was rated at 92bhp. The Alpine showed nothing but taillights to MGs of the era with a 0-60 time of 11.5 seconds. The Alpine Series V was also the basis for the much-heralded Sunbeam Tiger, a Ford V8 powered beast. The body of this '66 Alpine was carefully prepped and professionally refinished in Bright Red. All chrome is excellent. The interior was meticulously reupholstered in black vinyl and is very impressive. Analogue gauges including a tachometer perform well. A matching manual black top and tonneau cover are virtually flawless. As for the rest of the interior, look at the photos again - the passenger area is stunning. The 1725cc motor resides in a spotless engine compartment where all components have either been polished or refinished. The OHV four was rebuilt in 2012 and carbs are tuned to perfection. Series V motors were fitted with an oil cooler and a 12V alternator-based electrical system. The 4-speed manual gearbox has the reputation as a strong transmission and its performance is excellent. Brakes are manual disc/drum and steel road-wheels are white powder coated with correct Coker 13” bias ply whitewall tires. If you have wanted a Sunbeam Alpine, do not delay - this is your roadster. Photos do not do it justice. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS”.
