1965 Ford Thunderbird
This 1965 Ford Thunderbird Convertible will be auctioned off at the 44th Annual New England Auto Auction at Owls Head Transportation Museum, Owls Head, Maine. Live Bidding is available online or phone. More information at auction.owlshead.org
The 1965 Ford Thunderbird is considered the fourth generation of this widely recognized model. The 1965 Thunderbird was the first year to have the iconic sequential turn signals as well as front disc brakes.
This Vintage Burgundy Thunderbird with tan interior and tan Haartz cloth top has the legendary 390 cubic inch motor with 4-barrel carburetor. This example has an ATK remanufactured 390 motor which was installed in 2018 mated to a 3 speed Cruise-O-Matic transmission which had previously been rebuilt in 2017.
The older Burgundy paint although not perfect has a great luster and presents well. There are some imperfections in the paint surface, but the body is extremely solid with no apparent areas of rust or corrosion.
The mechanics of this car have been well sorted and it is a pleasure to drive from the power of the V8 motor to the interior amenities such as power steering and brakes, power windows, swing away steering wheel and power top. Although present the air conditioning is inoperable at this time.
This 1965 Ford Thunderbird Convertible would be welcome in any collection.
