Produced by the Ford Motor Company from October 1908 to May of 1927, the Ford Model T is regarded as the first affordable automobile and allowed middle-class Americans to travel by car. It was the introduction of Ford's assembly line production instead of individual handcrafting that gave this vehicle its claim to fame. The Model T was successful not only because it provided inexpensive transportation on a massive scale, but also because the vehicle signified innovation for the rising middle class and became a powerful symbol of the United States' age of modernization. Tallying around 15 million vehicles sold, the Model T was the most sold vehicle in history before it was surpassed by the Volkswagen Beetle in 1972.

Outfitted with a 2.9L inline 4-cylinder engine, the Model T is noted as producing 20 hp and has a top speed of 42 mph. This engine is noted as being capable of running on gasoline, kerosene or ethanol, as when these vehicles were first produced gasoline was not as easily available as it is today. The Model T is a rear-wheel drive vehicle, and the transmission could be considered a planetary gear that technically has three speeds. In today's terms, it is considered a two-speed because one of the three speeds is actually reverse.

Offered here is a highly original, collector's example of a burgundy over black Model T Fordor Sedan. It is noted that late in the 1926 year, Ford expanded their color options and offered all closed cars the option to be painted in their choice of Royal Maroon, Highland Green or Fawn Grey. Black was no longer listed as a body color even though all cars, regardless of their body style or color, were produced with black fenders, splash aprons and running boards. This vehicle is noted as having undergone a full restoration in 2005 and has been owned by the same family for the last 15 years. It has also had a complete service and tune-up in the summer of 2022 by Classic Coachworks.

The restoration of this Model T is quite breathtaking and hard to believe that it was completed just outside of 20 years ago. This stunning example is nothing shy of what you might have found driving around Greenfield Village, Michigan in the late 1920s and what any family of the time would love to have owed. If you are in the market for a 'Tin Lizzie', look no further than this elegant sedan. Please call if interested or e-mail with any questions. Thank you for looking.
