1956 Ford F100 Pickup

The Ford F100 series of pickup trucks are loved in the United States and around the world for their simple, approachable design, and reliable load-carrying ability. Over the past few years classic car collectors have been turning their attention to classic trucks and 4x4s, and unusual factory-built vehicles. Although Ford produced prodigious numbers of F100 trucks throughout the 1950s, it produced very few panel trucks, and their desirability has been low up until more recently. Many were scrapped and those that weren't shipped off to the knacker's yard usually rusted away unceremoniously in a forgotten corner of a farm somewhere in the countryside.

For consignment, this fabulously restored rare catch, a prime 1956 example of the Ford F100 pickup. Fully frame off restored and slightly rodded, no rust thanks to new fenders, running boards and a complete bed, and a custom snappy interior, this “hauler" is bathed in Torch Red, and now sports a rebuilt Ford 302ci engine and lots of other goodies, so get ready as I immerse you into the fires of this restored in 2010 beauty!

Exterior
A close inspection of this truck, and one has to look very hard to find any faults on this catch. As noted, Torch Red bathes super straight steel panels which are very much minding their gaps. We are still in the exterior bulbous fender age connected by running board era, although as with the rear fender, they are starting to melt into the actual body. A small body matching running board, with a nifty shiny Ford badged foot plate will guide you into the snazzy interior. Badging is all there and very nice, but the rear bumper has been retained for that factory fresh look. The front grille is completely chromed with single flanking headlights and looks like it was just dipped and shines wildly. So does the simple bumper framing the bottom of the grille. On the large curved downward front hood is a beautiful and large cloisonné Ford badge, and also on either side of the hood is some F100 badging. All other chrome parts are beautiful as are exterior mirrors, and handles. The cab has a long rear glass for much better panoramic vision, and on back a new oak lined bed which is lightly lacquered stretched between the cab and the F O R D embossed tailgate. Torch Red steel wheels in 15" format are dressed to the nines with Ford lettered dog dish caps and trim rings, then wrapped in like new Coker medium whitewall radials. Interior
Flip open either door and you will be met with gray vinyl door panels with embossed vertical stripes and shiny chrome for the actuators and power window toggles. The original design of the single curved metal dash houses the factory instrument cluster within the sea of red steel. These are fronted by a Torch Red tilt column and modern 3-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel. A gray vinyl bench seat is reaching from door to door and while very clean, does present with some wrinkling of the material. Vintage Air, and an aftermarket AM/FM/Cassette Mustang radio is now neatly installed to drivers right in line with the tilt column. The headliner is nice smooth gray vinyl and is tight as a drum. All inside is presenting just swimmingly even down to the clean black carpeting. The spark is there...

Drivetrain
Lifting open the rounded hood, we see a Ford 302ci V8 circa 1968 with its blue painted block and valve covers looks perfectly at home in the red and black engine bay and is all buttoned up and beautifully presenting. It has a chromed air cleaner cover, new radiator, soft and supple hoses and a nicely showing blue intake topped by a 2-barrel carburetor. On the back is a C4 3-speed automatic transmission and way back, weighing in with a 3.92 ratio is the rear axle. Ultra hot.....

Undercarriage
The factory Ford F-100 frame is under this beautiful steel and shows only a hint of surface rust. Leaf spring suspension front and rear are attached to the near perfect black frame and power front disc brakes work with power drums in the rear for extra safe stopping. Dual exhaust with stainless steel mufflers provides the perfect backdrop for the mix of red steel and clean strong oak that makes up the flooring and bed, all presents just beautifully underneath.

Drive-Ability
My partner in crime and I could not wait to dive into this beauty, and it did not disappoint. Stylin would best describe the feeling when inside. She fired right up, and it was off to the test track. Here she showed us her stuff with snappy acceleration, good handling, and awesome stopping power. Inside, a fairly quiet ride, but outside a great exhaust sound resonates through the valley of our test track. As we slipped off the track and headed back to the mall, a satisfied look was seen on both our faces as we were hooked! We noted the AC was blowing warm.

This hauler is fully restored and is souped up with a hot engine, new brakes, a comfy no-nonsense interior, and paint as deep as the 7th level of hell…all here at the Classic Auto Mall. Hurry in as this will not take long for this truck to ignite the passion in someone's soul.
