Description

For consignment, a 1938 Chevrolet Sport Coupe dipped in a two-tone of white and maroon, fully restored, with a nice interior customized, and a 327ci V8 mill under the hood.  With many modern convenience add-ons, think Vintage AC & Heat, power steering and power front disc brakes this car is meant to be driven, but our consignor has only logged a mere 1,200 miles since the build was completed so it's up to you to log those miles and create your own smiles.

Exterior
1938 brought a nice designer's pen to the drawing table and created this 4 interior seat and full trunk Rubenesque styled sport coupe.  Receiving a full stripping and sanding, then bathed in the clean crisp white paint down low, its minding its gaps very nicely.  At mid beltline, a checkered flag motif wraps the body and creates a delineation line before deep rich maroon takes over covering the entire roof, hood, and sweeps down the trunk lid making for a visually appealing posterior view.  This procedure was performed 2006 and is still looking great today.  The front of the car starts out narrow for the grille and flanking bullet headlights, and widens as it goes to the front glass.  Free flowing fenders on front and rear are connected by a running board with stainless trimmings around the black rubber ribbed inserts.  On the back are small chrome trimmed tail lights perched upon stalks  and below this is a nice curved chrome bumper with twin guards nicely polished.  15-inch chrome directional Cragar wheels are all around and are wrapped in wide white radials.

Interior
A swing of the door and a nice wide swatch of gray and white striped broadcloth flanked above by white cloth and below by deep pile maroon carpeting.  It sports the original levers and cranks and on the top is maroon metal and a white armrest/pull is also seen.  Moving inside, the late model overstuffed low back bucket seats with smooth white bolsters and clean gray inserts are noted and looking just great. Nice maroon carpet floods the floors, and upfront is a beautifully restored and slightly modified dash made up of maroon painted metal with plenty of art deco inspired stainless and chromed accenting.  Gauge cluster is original and houses a Sun tachometer in the center, the center panel is custom fabricated with a machine turned housing for dual gauges, a highly polished center insert and down low are a few knobs, switches and the electric wiper controls.  Another highly polished stainless panel is reserved for the glovebox door and an add-on maroon panel mounted below the dash houses the Vintage AC & Heat slides as well as a modern AM/FM/CD player from a later model Chevrolet.  A huge highlight is the white console that splits the bucket seats and includes a partial console from an Impala for the Hurst shifter

Drivetrain
Under the twin cowled hood, we could not be more impressed where here we see maroon painted bay, and then an orange drenched 327ci V8 has been slipped in, and it just gleams.  This mill was rebuilt by Napa and has had a mild performance camshaft installed.  On top is an orange intake manifold with a 4-barrel carb providing the air and fossils.  On the back is a Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission, and way back is a Ford 9" rear axle equipped with Positraction and with 3.73 gears.
Undercarriage
Underneath is very clean with miles of black steel and just a few dabbles of surface rust on the usual suspects.  Power front disc brakes work in conjunction with power rear drums to bring this rod to a safe halt and Flowmaster mufflers and dual exhaust are on to let the crowd know you've arrived.  A Mustang II style suspension is on the front and in the rear we see traditional leaf springs.  All buttoned up and ready to rock!

Drive-Ability
An easy in and out, plenty of room and adjustments to make it just right baby bear.  She fired right up and ran like the local fire brigade rushing to a nearby conflagration.  Great handling, smooth shifting and all functions working properly.  A nice cruiser too!

This is a nicely built foundation from which our consigner proceeded to bling it out with some new parts, and make it over the top.  Enjoying it just enough to work the kinks out, this rod is now ready to be fully enjoyed and make you stand out at the local shows.  Visit our overstuffed Hallowed Halls, and view this stand out Chevy for yourself...but don't dally, rods like this don't last long.
