"Best of Both Worlds"
Harry Shay Founded the “Model A and Model T Motor Car Reproduction Corporation” also known as “Shay Motors Corporation” in the spring of 1978. In conjunction with Ford Motor Corporation, Shay set out to build a limited number of Model A reproduction cars to mark the 50th Anniversary of the car. Shay had a great deal worked out with Ford as ford waived its design patents so the Shay roadster could be built, and Ford marketed and sold the Shay Model A through its Ford Lincoln Mercury dealerships. Ford loved the publicity, just as in December of 1927, dealers reported 200 to 600 people coming through their showrooms when they first displayed the Shay. Not since the introduction of the Mustang had the dealerships seen so much activity. The Shay was identical to the original in appearance. The fiberglass body was of such excellent quality, even the keenest eye could hardly make out the difference. The mechanicals and suspension were significantly upgraded from the original, giving the Shay a modern feel and could handle the driving and traffic demands of the modern-day. Today, the Shay Model A's remain very popular as the more modern mechanics keep them a very usable classic.
This gorgeous Shay comes finished in crème over black interior. It is powered by its Ford 4 cylinder with a manual transmission. Highlights include a luggage rack and trunk, Kenwood CD player, side curtains, rumble seat, white wall tires on wire wheels, fender mounted spare. The car runs and handles very well and is a blast to drive.
