496ci V8/BDS Blower/Fab 9 Axle/Wilwood Brakes/Tilt Front End/TH400/Holley Carbs

Anything but mellow when we enter the yellow world of the gasser in 1957 Chevrolet 210 form.  Dressed with some Bel Air trimmings , fueled by 496ci V8, this wild looker and cooker is beautifully done, and runs like, well a gasser!   A true throwback to the drags of yore, I can see my crew girl in her tight pants, tied bottom button-down shirt, big hairdo and chewing a wad of gum stating "Oi loike da drahhgs", especially in Jehrsee, gimme another cigharhette…

Exterior
The beautiful lines of the 1957 Chevrolet form have been carefully maintained with the only differences being the jacked suspension, some Bel Air trimmings added on the side and both bumpers and grille have been removed, (hey, gotta save weight somewhere).  This car is bathed in a retina searing shade of Sunflower Yellow that is anything but mellow.  Up front, red highlighted rocket trimming adorn the hood and these run back toward the wrap around windshield where they die into the hood.  Of note, while at first glance the front clip of the car seems factory correct, it is actually a 1 piece flip forward front end, very trick!  Very nice chrome headlight bezels frame the single headlights, and nice chromed side view mirrors, door handles, and window trim, all chromed are all wonderful.  Lightly smoked glass is all around the passengers compartment for a sinister look and on the back a cloisonne badge adorns the trunk while a bright and shiny tail light bezels meld with and dress up the rear and tops of the fins.  Within the front wheel wells are snarling white header pipes which form into a single cut off pipe that when the engine is fired up will absolutely “rack off” with the cut outs opened.  15" Torque Thrust aluminum wheels are on the front and back and are shod in skinnies up front and fatties in the rear.  
Interior
Custom vertical tuck and roll vinyl panels cover the steel of the doors and have snappy black and silver horizontally ribbed inserts that mimic the Bel Air side trim.  Slipping inside, high back tuck and roll black vinyl with smooth bolsters covers the front bucket seats and if one is limber enough to gain access, they can soak up the matching rear seat complete with Hell Air embroidery within a stitched bowtie.  The dash has become more square in its design but still has deep round silver painted metal bezels for the gauges.  We note aftermarket AutoMeter gauges added in lieu of the factory units and a tachometer is strapped to the column.  Streaking through the middle of the dash is a shiny mesh aluminum trim which breaks up all the black painted metal and on the passenger side is a clock in front of the passenger. Below the dash we note a full on racing throttle pedal assembly, more akin to a funny car or dragster with its upper bar to pull the throttle back if things should go awry.  A black tight headliner is above, and below is a sea of black nice carpeting.  Floating between these is a roll bar to protect occupants should the view become inverted.

Drivetrain
Lifting and sliding the one piece tilt forward hood gives us a wonderful view of the mechanical jewelry powering this gasser.  Get ready to get some tech thrown at you!  The mill is a 496ci featuring an aftermarket forged crankshaft with H-beam connecting rods, forged pistons, and a solid lifter flat tappet camshaft.  Cast iron cylinder heads with roller rockers cap off the holes and are fed air and fossils via a pair of Holley 750cfm boost reference carbs before entering the BDS 8-71 supercharger.  A TH400 3-speed automatic transmission with a 10" torque converter feeds power back to a Fab 9 9" rear axle with 3.73 gears, Strange axles, and Positraction.

Undercarriage
Nice and black with no rust seen for miles, just some patina and road dirt is worth noting.  Giving the killer stance and drag race ride is a leaf spring front suspension and a ladder bar rear suspension with coilovers.  Our consignor notes that the front axle is from Speedway and QA1 adjustable shocks are all around.  Wilwood disc brakes have been added on both the front and rear and white snaking headers flow down from the mighty mill and have the option of sending spent gasses through glasspack style mufflers or being left uncorked for the whole world to hear.   Overall, a nice undercarriage with some custom structural creation.

Drive-Ability
Our resident racer took this beast out and came back with a smile on his face.  The only disappointment was the tarmac was too cold to lift the front end.  Otherwise, he reported it was “great!”

What a gas(er) to have experienced and in our showroom.  A classic leftover from the early drags of yore, prior to the Pro Stock class.  A way to get Wallys, all jacked up, loads of power, gobs of noise, and a plethora of chrome on a blinding yellow with a mostly original bodied and trimmed car.  I have a hankering for going in a straight line right now!
