“Fishtown History!”
94 Years old and still purrs like a kitten. This absolutely parade ready example has been a Leelanau county resident its entire life. That may not mean much to people that don't live here but the NW corner of the lower peninsula is a very special place to many people and even more so to the long time residents of the N. and S. Manitou Islands before the US Park Service took over control making them part of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. This particular Model A truck was owned by local residents who resided on N. Manitou Island from 1933 all the way through 1976 when the lease terms were up for the Hollister family. The truck was then boated off the island full of the family belongings and then stored and the local Vans garage from 1976 through the early 1980s when another local person bought it and restored it….(the only time the vehicle would ever be restored). It was a nut and bolt restoration at the time but is now going on over 40 years of age. The vehicle was handed down to a family member and then finally to my seller who is also a Leland resident (300 people in the village of Leland/fishtown). When the truck was restored, the only thing replaced was one front fender, the rest of the metal was original to the truck as it is told. This truck runs, stops, drives down the road very nicely. This would make a great small town show truck or use it for ice cream. Really cool all the way around. Please let us know if you have any questions.
